An artisan beekeeping business based in the beautiful and remote Catlins region of New Zealand.

Beekeeping this far south has its challenges, but they're worth it to produce some of New Zealand's most unadulterated and tasty honeys.  The Kaka Point Honey Company uses organic varroa treatments, 100% recycled jars, gentle harvest techniques and minimal processing - including no heat treatments, pasteurisation or micro filtering - leaving all the goodness in the honey.

Run by beekeeper Louise Thompson, The Kaka Point Honey Company produces natural and delicious honeys, comb honey and a variety of beeswax based products.

Handmade Artisan Breads, Cakes and all manner of baked goods.

Each creation is crafted with love and attention to detail, using high-quality ingredients to ensure every bite is a treat for the senses. From crusty, rustic breads to decadent cakes that make any occasion special, my passion for baking shines through in every delicious offering. Located in Catlins, Otago.

Set on 10 acres in the beautiful Catlins, the Earthlore garden has been evolving since Janine and Gordon arrived there in 2007. In the first couple of years, they planted over 100 fruit and nut trees and set aside an area specifically for natives. Our fruit is spray-free, ensuring a natural and healthy choice for all.

The main focus of the garden is to encourage wildlife and increase biodiversity. A 4 acre area is dedicated to native plants, particularly host plants for native butterflies and other invertebrates. The initial plantings are well established and are now home to many native birds who nest and raise their chicks there. A large portion of the property is also given over to growing edibles, with a well established food forest. Most of the fruit trees are heritage varieties including many apples that were grafted from old trees found around The Catlins from old homesteads and railway lines. You can also stay at Earthlore in one of their two tiny houses available for holiday accommodation, Pekapeka or Tranquility.

Basil & Baylys is a family-run, small-scale farm/garden based in Owaka, we are non-certified organic, no-dig growers of high-quality plants and produce.

We aim to grow enough food to feed ourselves and share the excess with our community through our roadside stall at 35 Main Rd, Owaka, great initiatives like Catlins Harvest and our website www.basilandbaylys.co.nz
